Summary
One donation, twice the impact. Help AFK double their donations between 2nd - 9th December and support disabled children and young people this winter.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025

The Big Give Christmas Challenge is back and this year, we’re hoping to help even more disabled children and young people gain the independence, freedom and confidence they deserve.
Every winter, AFK takes part in the UK’s biggest online matched-funding campaign, where donations made during the challenge week are doubled at no extra cost to supporters. It’s one of the most important events in our fundraising calendar, and it always brings out the very best in our community.
Thanks to your generosity, last year we raised an incredible £20,782, helping children and young people across the UK access the mobility equipment the NHS can’t provide. Your support made a huge difference and with your help, we’re ready to do it all again.
When is The Big Give Christmas Challenge?
This year’s campaign will run from:
12pm on 2nd December – 12pm on 9th December
During this week, every donation made through our Big Give page will be matched, doubling the impact of your gift and helping us provide specialist mobility equipment for children and young people who need it most.
Why your support matters

Fourteen-year-old Elizabeth lives with Hypermobility, Hypotonia, Scoliosis and Global Developmental Delay. Her mobility relies on a walking frame and a wheelchair both of which limit her independence and require constant support from her parents.
Although she loves being outdoors with her family, Elizabeth often felt frustrated, tired and restricted because she couldn’t move freely on her own terms. But her parents had seen how transformative the right equipment could be. A few years earlier, she had a smaller trike that gave her, her first real taste of independence. She adored it, pedalling at her own pace, choosing her own route, and feeling the joy of moving completely under her own power.
When she eventually outgrew that trike, the family couldn’t afford a suitable replacement, and that independence slipped away.
In January 2025, thanks to AFK supporters, we were able to fund a brand-new, age-appropriate trike for Elizabeth.
The moment she took her first ride again captured proudly by her dad says it all:
“Thank you for ordering Elizabeth’s trike, which she loves. The video was of her first go on it, and she was a little nervous!! We are so very grateful for your help.”

Now, Elizabeth has regained the freedom to choose her pace, direction and rest stops and her confidence has blossomed. Her family are thrilled to see her enjoying the independence she had missed for so long, and they’re already looking forward to many more adventures ahead.
