Summary
AFK in the running for GamesAid Funding this spring. Votes are now open until the 2nd of May!
Votes now open for GamesAid Funding
GamesAid’s mission is about empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged young people. From medical assistance to fostering social mobility, from nurturing mental health to championing disability rights, GamesAid’s reach grows every year.
Your vote could help support young people like William, a delightful 6-year-old boy from Blackpool who has a diagnosis of Sotos syndrome, global developmental delay and epilepsy.
William did not have enough strength to pedal a regular tricycle. However, his new specialist Theraplay tricycle, which has the correct amount of support for him, has made it easier to pedal, allowing him to cycle on his own.
Not only does this new equipment have huge physical benefits, it also promotes William’s independence. It has helped develop his social and interpersonal skills as he joins in with his family and friends on bike rides. His play skills are also developing as he starts to use imaginative play, setting out on his ‘latest adventure’, a fun activity for him and a big boost for his confidence and self-esteem.
‘He gets to tick another box of things that other children get to do every day. He now has some freedom to ride a bike. The smile says it all and we have to send a massive thanks to AFK for funding the most amazing equipment.’ William’s Mum
