Every young person’s route into work is different. AFK’s Impact and Innovation programme and Employment and Skills programme provide different pathways to employment, depending on a young person’s goals and the stage they have reached.

Impact and Innovation helps young people explore their interests, learn about different careers and build confidence through practical activities, workshops and experiences. Employment and Skills provides more focused support for young people who are preparing for paid work, applying for jobs or settling into a new role.

Together, the programmes help disabled and neurodivergent young people build skills, gain experience and take practical steps towards their future.

For disabled or neurodiverse young people who want to learn about different careers, build their confidence and develop practical skills through workshops, employer visits, leadership opportunities and independent travel training.

For disabled or neurodiverse young people who are ready for one-to-one support to find paid work. An Employment Coach can help you build your confidence, gain workplace experience, apply for jobs and settle into a new role.

Our Self-Employment Programme

Our Self-Employment programme, We Mean Business, supports disabled and neurodivergent young people who have an idea, interest or passion they would like to develop.

With tailored guidance, they can explore self-employment, build their confidence, understand how to run a business and take practical steps towards turning their idea into something real.
