The residents of Gisburn Road in Hornsey came together and demonstrated the power of community spirit this July, organising a spectacular street party that raised an outstanding £7,300 for AFK’s vital work with young people who are disabled or neurodiverse.
A Community United
Working together with local council support to close the street and secure necessary licenses, the neighbours of this close-knit Hornsey street transformed their road into a vibrant celebration of community and charitable giving.
The event featured an innovative “Gisburn Dollars” system at the entrance, allowing visitors to purchase local currency for use at all stalls—streamlining transactions and creating a unique festival atmosphere. The charity information stand welcomed guests with details about AFK’s mission and an exciting raffle featuring diverse prizes, from fashion accessories and dining experiences to practical services like MOT vouchers and pest control.
